At St. Paul we take an avid interested in feeding the sheep of Jesus, both figuratively, and in the most literal sense. If you really want to be 'fed' by your church, put on your apron and find a spot to volunteer:
PACK A SACK
This is a program we participate in throughout the school year. It provides children in need with a care package of food items to take home from the school district on Friday afternoons. The idea is that it would provide breakfast, snacks and an additional meal for weekends when food might be difficult to obtain otherwise. As a participating church, we donate certain items each month, and encourage our members to volunteer their time during 'packing.' The local program originated with and is housed by St. John's UCC. Find out more about the program and opportunities to volunteer by visiting the Pack-A-Sack Program's Facebook Page here.
Brighton Area /St Paul UMC Food Pantry

Hours: Thursdays 9--11 a.m. and 6-7pm on the 3rd Tuesday of the month. Click HERE for more information.
The Food Pantry is housed in 119 E Vine Street in the small building behind the Cartwright Building. It provides a dignified, supermarket type experience for those in need. Eligibility is based on income and we are open to those residing in the Southwestern school district. The pantry can be accessed each month if needed. For more info our phone number is 618-491-0174. If no answer, leave a message and we'll call back.
The pantry is supported by private donations and supported by citizens and churches of Brighton. We also receive USDA commodities and serve between 100 and 130 persons per month.
Pioneer Club 2025-2026
Meets Mondays during the school year appx. 3:30-5 p.m. Start time is flexible due to the nature of bus routes.
Pioneer club is a bible based scouting organization for kids aged Pre-K to 6th grade and meets in the Wesley Center. The kids typically have a snack, work on bible verses, learn a story, have recreation, and work on a project. The kids earn badges throughout their time in Pioneer club, much like any other scouting group.
Volunteers of all ages are needed to fulfill teacher, kitchen, and helper roles. Teens who have graduated from the program often donate their time to work with younger classes.
