The Food Pantry is housed in 119 E Vine Street. It provides a dignified, supermarket type experience for those in need. Eligibility is based on income and we are open to those residing in the Southwestern school district. The pantry can be accessed each month if needed. For more info our phone number is 618-491-0174. If no answer, leave a message and we'll call back.

The pantry is supported by private donations and supported by citizens and churches of Brighton. We also receive USDA commodities and serve between 100 and 130 persons per month.

Vision:

A community where everyone has access to healthy and nutritious food.

Mission:

To create an environment that values every human being as a child of God.

We operate the only food pantry in Brighton for people living within the boundaries of Southwestern School District and have been operating out of the small building behind our Cartwright center. Our pantry serves over 100 people per month and that number is steadily growing. People of all ages including older singles on a fixed income and small/large families come to us for assistance. They can get things such as bread, canned goods, meat and pasta, to household items like toilet paper and laundry soap. Our laundry soap is made for and donated to us by the Life Skills class at Southwestern High School.

Primarily we purchase food from the Illinois Central Food Bank in Springfield and we also take donations from the community. We can purchase what we need at a greatly reduced price so monetary donations tend to go further. All our help is from volunteers willing to serve weekly. There is always someone on hand to pray with people that ask so, not only are we serving the physical needs of those who come but we also seek to serve their spiritual needs. We appreciate your support as we continue to serve the community of Brighton with this vital ministry. Thank you!
