SUMMER 2026!
There are several opportunities get GET INVOLVED in your community and help others. They're each as close at the nearest store! The Food Pantry is seeking ANY shelf stable items or personal care items and Pack-A-Sack is looking for their typical pre-wrapped items (see community page for more!) Crossroads Church on Maple has agreed to host a Blessing Box near the Community Produce Stand. They also have started summer lunches for school aged kids!
Pioneer Club is asking for help filling Shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child! We pack boxes every year, and for 2026, we want to commit to making the boxes FULL, FUN, and PERSONALIZED. Each child only receives one box in their lifetime, so we need to do our VERY best for each child. A box is located in the narthex for drop off before packing at the end of November. Let's make 2026 the best OCC yet! Click READ MORE below for full list of suggestions!
Christmas in July! Support Pioneer Club's ministry of packing shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child by sponsoring a pencil pouch! Items like pencils, colored pencils, pencil sharpeners, black, red, or blue pens, glue sticks, {no liquids} scissors, erasers, or any other supplies would be greatly appreciated! Take advantage of the low prices counting down to BACK TO SCHOOL to fill a pouch for a child. With each box, the child receives a months-long course of stories about Jesus, so this is not just a GIFT, but a real spiritual experience! School supplies are just one aspect of the boxes, but one that can make a huge difference for a child! Boxes packed are 2-4, 5-9, and 10-14, so all ages and stages of supplies are needed!
You might feel led to go on a color theme, character theme, sports, or something else, or you might just buy 3 packs of pencils to be spread throughout the boxes, and that's great! Anything an American kid would like, a child around the world would probably like, or use, too. A journal, notebook, coloring book, stickers, index cards, calculator, tape, ruler, DRY watercolor set, graph paper, and so on could be the thing that is special to a child around the world! WE HAVE THE POUCHES ALREADY, WE JUST NEED TO FILL THEM! Size is approximately 9x4.
Thank you to everyone who has donated to our pencil pouch Christmas in July project for Operation Christmas Child! You can still bring donations to the narthex and we'll have the Pioneer club kids pack those soon! As we aim for Fun, Full, Personalized boxes, there are still ways to help. Postage for each box is $10. You can cover that if you want, or if you're a bargain shopper and want to keep your eye out for other items needed for the boxes before November, here's a few suggestions that can always be tucked in under the WOW! Items: NEW ITEMS ONLY: combs, washcloths, nail clippers, solid deodorant, non-medicated lip balm, mini sewing kits, mini fishing kits, stickers, coloring books, assorted paper for drawing, bookmarks, picture books, small toys (lego, balls, jacks, marbles, yoyos), flip flops, tshirts, or dresses. MANY of these items (flip flops, tees) will be deeply discounted in stores as back to school rolls in. Aim for the largest size in each group. The ages served are 2-4 (so think fits size ~4T), 5-9(~8/10), and 10-14 (~14/16). If you need a refresher of WOW items to be donated, or want more information about the boxes check here: https://samaritanspurse.org/.../what-goes-in-my-shoebox.../ Quick reminder: no food/candy/natural products, soap or toothpaste, liquids, money, military colored camouflage items, or knives/weapons. Tools are okay, but a full tool kit would be seen as 'AID' instead of fun and rejected at customs. Even lip balm can't have sunscreen or be medicated, as that's considered aid instead of just fun.
